2010 : Heroes of the year Number 7

Record shop of the year for me is Glasgow's Rubadub. Just follow their mailouts, buy everything they recommend and you won't go too far wrong.  Run by Richard from Numbers records and with Ryan from ALL CAPS behind the counter, even just through talking to them on the phone, they are always friendly and just too knowledgeable, dropping some great tips and advice.
Some blind-buys that have turned out to be stone cold classics for me have included Marcellous Pittman, Space Dimension Controller, Kyle Hall, Deadboy, Jam City, Henrik Schwarz and Mount Kimbie. Not a bad little list then!

The best 'local' shop has been a surprise re-find for me - Manchester's Eastern Bloc. I hadn't been in there for years (I think the fella from 808 State was still there, well maybe not that far back, but still). I can't even remember which record I had been looking for but it wasn't in Piccadilly across the road and then walking back I saw it in their window. Although they only really specialise in about three genres dubtep, techno and d'n'b, they pretty much stocked everything I loved. Again, knowledgable and approachable staff have given me so many great tips, most recently about one I am so desperate to get hold of early next year by ENA.
