A living legend, though never really went away, really showed the younguns a thing or two about bass this year. Whether it was with Rinse FM's Funk Butcher, the meeting of most influential garage producers with Steve Gurley or the sound of the summer with Omar, he was always at the front of my box.
Plus he really was kind enough to check out my mix of old Chicago and Detroit stuff from earlier in the year.
